Evan Elder stepped into the Octagon at UFC Denver on four-day notice to take on a win-hungry Darrius Flowers. “The Phenom” looked impressive throughout and drug Flowers out to deep waters in the second, where he would score the first finish of his UFC career. And, if the short notice first stoppage win wasn’t enough, this fight marked Elder’s first event in an arena for the UFC. Needless to say, the 27-year-old out of Kill Cliff FC was on top of the world.

Evan Elder Wants to Crank Up the Activity after Big Win at UFC Denver

After celebrating in a big way at Denver’s True Food Kitchen, Elder had time to reflect on the his win.

“This win definitely stacks up amongst the best of them! It just felt good to get back in the cage after a year away. The most exciting part was this was my first fight in an arena for the UFC and the energy was electric.”

Elder’s 96-hour notice fight was his first in nearly a year—364 days to be exact. The Deerfield Beach, Florida fighter’s inactivity is something he would like to leave in the past as he told MMASucka he wants to crank up the activity.

“I’m hoping to get back in there in October if they will let me! It’s so hard to say how the next three-hundred sixty five days [will] go because who knows when they will have me fight, if I will have any injuries, or anything else life can throw at you! But if I had it my way I would like to fight at least three, hopefully four times in the next three-hundred sixty-five days, all resulting in wins and [I’ll] be looking at knocking on the door of the top fifteen in the next year or two.”

Boasting about his fight-ready lifestyle in his post-fight presser, Elder should have no problem keeping to a pace of a fight every three or four months. October is just two months away, but with Elder absorbing very little damage in his July 13th contest (just twenty-four strikes), there should be no issue accomplishing this. His manager, Jason House, also seems to be a perfect fit for Elder, as the Iridium Sports Agency CEO dialed up Elder just four days before UFC Denver.

In terms of competition, Elder doesn’t have any names in mind. The welterweight, who is now enjoying a two-fight win streak, simply wants to “break necks and cash checks”—truly something any MMA fan could appreciate.

“I don’t have my eyes on any specific opponent yet. I’ll fight whoever they give me. I’m not really interested in calling for specific names until I get around top fifteen territory.”

If Evan Elder can keep a busy schedule and continue to stack wins, not only will he “break necks and cash checks”, he will push himself into the top-15 conversation, and will certainly bloom into a fan favorite as well.
