Combate Global is back again for the ninth iteration of its show this year, as Combate Global 39 goes down live tonight from the promotion’s studios in Miami, Florida.
In the main event, UFC veteran Leonardo Morales battles Marlon Gonzales at featherweight. After running through the TUF: Latin America 1 tournament, “Chimmy” Morales lost to Yair Rodriguez in the finale. He then lost to Jose Quinonez to end his UFC tenure. Most recently, he has dropped his two Combate Global appearances at Combate Global 21 and Combate Global 29. Gonzales has not fought in two and a half years, having lost two of his last three fights, which have all come under the Combate banner.
After the original co-main event between Yajaira Cunningham and Gloria Bravo fell through, a featherweight bout between David Zelner and Ramon Izcarra will take its place. “DZ Machine” Zelner made his professional MMA debut less than a year ago, picking up two wins in the Florida-based Combat Night promotion. After picking up two wins to start his professional career, Izcarra has lost three of his last four, including a 1-2 run with Combate.
The preliminary card is headlined by another featherweight fight between the undefeated LFA veteran Moses Diaz and Costa Rica’s Carlos Cordoba.
