The ONE Championship flyweight Muay Thai specialist is back in the spotlight, headlining ONE Fight Night 31 against Nong-O Hama on Friday, May 2. Although he was happy with what he showed last time, he has no issue running it right back.

“I was happy with my performance in the first fight, but others may have some doubts, so this time I will make it clear,” Kongthoranee Sor Sommai stated to ONE.

In their first meeting, Kongthoranee Sor Sommai edged Nong-O by split decision after three hard-fought rounds. However, all of those doubts have weighed on the #3-ranked flyweight contender. Kongthoranee was clear that the rematch opportunity was exciting to be able to prove himself against a true icon of the sport once more.
“Yes, [I wanted the rematch] because this time everyone will finally be able to end their arguments,” the flyweight remarked.

While Nong-O may be in the later stage of his career, Kongthoranee found out that he has not lost a step. The former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion still has all of the tools that made him a legend. In their rematch, Kongthoranee Sor Sommai is focused on using his reflexes to come out with his hand raised inside Lumpinee Stadium.
“I learned that Nong-O has very good timing. The way to deal with him is that I have to be faster than him,” Kongthoranee described.

Kongthoranee will be ready for another firefight if that comes to pass. But that is not how he wants to get the win. The flyweight contender wants an emphatic end that leaves no doubt.
“I want to win this fight decisively so our rivalry can end here and there will be no trilogy match,” the Thai athlete said.
Kongthoranee Motivated by Online Comments After First Nong-O Fight
The naysayers have gotten under Kongthoranee Sor Sommai’s skin. While that could have a negative effect, the Thai star has used those words as motivation to be at his best on May 2. Fueled by haters, Kongthoranee is going to bring the fire at ONE Fight Night 31.
“After I received a lot of trash messages, it motivated me to work harder so that no one will think negatively of me anymore. I expect this fight to be fierce, and as I said, if I get the chance to finish, I will go for it,” Kongthoranee said.
