UFC 288 Weigh-In Results – Drama, One Fighter Misses Weight and One Fight Cancelled

UFC 288 goes down this Saturday night live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The all-important UFC 288 weigh-ins go down between 9AM and 11AM with the ceremonial weigh-ins happening around 4 PM E.T/1 PM E.T.

The main event sees bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling look to make the third defence of his title when he takes on the former double champion and 2008 Olympic gold medalist, Henry Cejudo. We haven’t seen Cejudo compete since 2020, however, before his retirement he was enjoying an impressive six-fight winning run, including wins over Demetrious Johnson, TJ Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz.

The Co-main event is a five-round showdown at welterweight between Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns in what could see the next #1 contender crowned. For Muhammad, a win would see him extend his undefeated streak to 10 and it could be hard to deny him a title shot. For Burns, he’s looking for his second title shot and would progress to 4-1 since his first shot with a victory.

Elsewhere on the main card, former champion, Jessica Andrade clashes with up-and-comer Yan XiaonanMovsar Evloev clashes with promotional newcomer, Diego Lopes. Lopes has taken the fight on just a week’s notice after Bryce Mitchell had to withdraw from the fight with an injury. Kron Gracie also returns in a featherweight banger against Charles Jourdain.

On the undercard, the fights to watch out for are Drew Dober vs. Matt Frevola and Marina Rodriguez vs. Virna Jandiroba.
