Let’s try this again – Matt Dwyer will make his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 54 against Albert Tumenov in Halifax.

Toshido MMA coach David Lea announced the match-up on his official Facebook page on Wednesday.

Dwyer (7-1) was expected to make his debut against Alex Garcia at UFC 176, however was forced out of the bout with an injury. The Kelowna native is currently riding a five-fight winning streak with all of his professional bouts coming under the BFL banner. Most recently he fought back-to-back fights against UFC vets Shonie Carter and DaMarques Johnson. At BFL 27, he beat “Mr. International” via third round TKO and at BFL 30, Dwyer finished Johnson via second round TKO in a bloody back and forth battle.

Tumenov (13-2) is 1-1 inside the UFC Octagon. He made his debut at UFC Fight Night 36 in February where he lost his first bout in three-years against Ildemar Alcantara. He won his sophomore outing against Anthony Lapsley at UFC Fight Night 40 in May.

The Dwyer vs. Tumenov bout will likely take place on the preliminary portion of the UFC Fight Night 54 fight card.

UFC Fight Night 54 goes down on October 4 from the Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The event will be headlined by a welterweight showdown between Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine.
