UFC Vegas 105 takes place this weekend, bringing with it a monumental battle between two featherweight standouts in the hard-punching Josh Emmett and the undefeated Lerone Murphy. Before that, however, Pat Sabatini looks to continue his ascent up the 145-lb ladder with a splendid performance against the equally talented Joanderson Brito.
Main Event
Bouncing back into the winner’s circle after dropping two fights in a row with a one punch knockout over Bryce Mitchell, Emmett would take an extended leave of absence from the sport due to injuries, not competing at all in 2024. Now possessing a clean bill of health, the one-time UFC title challenger will seek to hand his English adversary his first professional loss.
Riding a eight-bout unbeaten streak in the promotion, Murphy has quietly cemented himself amongst the top featherweight contenders on the planet since joining the UFC back in 2019. Should he manage to do away with the incredibly durable and strong Emmett in considerable fashion, the doorway to a possible title shot for “The Miracle” may not be too far ahead.
Co-Main Event
Even before stepping into the Octagon, Sabatini was already a major prospect in the making with notable wins against future UFC names like Tony Gravely and Da’Mon Blackshear. Ending last year with a splendid first round submission over Jonathan Pearce, the Daniel Gracie black belt has his eyes set on going even further in the division in 2025.
Training out of Chute Boxe João Emilio in Sao Paulo, Brito has also garnered much success over the current 145-lb elite, including a well-aged triumph against upcoming pay-per-view headliner Diego Lopes. Although he lost his last UFC appearance by split decision to William Gomis, “Tubarão” can easily make another run towards the top 15 with a high-light reel finish come Saturday.
More Bouts On the Main Card
Rounding out the main card, Cortavious Romious battles Lee Chang-ho. The unblemished Uran Satybaldiev meets Martin Buday. Then, middleweight luminaries Brad Tavares and Gerald Meerschaert duke it out in a match between divisional legends. Finally, three-time Dana White Contender Series winner Torrez Finney gets his long-awaited UFC debut in a potentially violent encounter with Ultimate Fighter alum Robert Valentin.
