2 title fights set for PXC 35 in Pasig City, Philippines

The Pacific Xtreme Combat is set to showcase its first event of 2013. Officials have confirmed that PXC 35 is set to take place on February 16th at the Ynares Sports Arena situated in Pasig City, Philippines.

First reported by the folks at MMAOrient.net, PXC 35 is set to feature 2 title fights.

Current PXC Lightweight champion Harris Sarmiento (35-24) is set to defend his 155-lbs strap against up-and-comer, Isaiah Ordiz (2-0). Sarmiento, a former Strikeforce veteran, will be competing for the 1st time following a non-title submission defeat at the hands of Mark Streigl at PXC 34 last year. Ordiz, in the meantime, earned his title-shot after gaining a split-decision win over Tristan Arenal at PXC 34.

The 2nd title tilt of the night will be for the interim Bantamweight title, as reigning PXC Featherweight title-holder Joe Taimanglo (17-4-1) contests Shooto veteran, Michinori Tanaka (6-0). The latter is undefeated in his professional MMA career thus far, and marked his promotional debut with a submission win over Russell Doane at PXC 34 in November. His opponent, Joe Taimanglo, is a staple under PXC’s bright lights having competed 19 times for the promotion. The American is on a tear with a rampant 8-fight winning streak, 7 of which have come under the PXC banner.

Elsewhere, former WEC and Strikeforce veteran Alvin Cacdac (11-9), will be looking to make it 3-0 in PXC when he squares off against Louis Smolka (2-0). Both fighters are coming off wins in their previous respective outings.

Troy Bantiag (4-1), a member of the esteemed Team Lakay camp, will be taking on fellow promotional veteran, Tony Reyes (5-5). The latter fighter will be desperate to snap his current 4-fight winless streak to get his career back on track. Bantiag, meanwhile, is 2-1 in his stint with PXC.

Ronald Jhun (24-24-2) is set to make his promotional PXC debut at PXC 35, and the American will be welcomed by Legacy Gym’s undefeated prospect, Zebaztian Kadestam (3-0). With a resume that includes bouts with the likes of Chris Lytle, ‘Mayhem’ Miller, Jay Hieron and Dennis Hallman, Jhun has fought in over 45 professional MMA bouts to date. Kadestam, in the meantime, marked his promotional debut with a 1st round submission finish of Patrick Manicad.

With that said, here’s the current fight card:

  • Harris Sarmiento vs. Isaiah Ordiz (For PXC Lightweight strap)
  • Joe Taimanglo vs. Michinori Tanaka (For interim PXC Bantamweight strap)
  • Alvin Cacdac vs. Louis Smolka
  • Troy Bantiag vs. Tony Reyes
  • Ronald Jhun vs. Zebaztian Kadestam
