Earlier today Dana White, UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos made their way to Los Angeles, California for the UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs. JDS Press Conference. The press conference was held at the West Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, California. UFC on Fox 1: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos Pre-Fight Press Conference Highlights:
Dana White
• We have been working hard. Our deal with Fox doesn’t start until January and we’ve had more meetings with them already then we’ve ever had before.
• I think that however this fight plays out, whether it goes 30-seconds or 30-minutes, it will be great. Any time either of these guys fight its going to be exciting.
• This press conference is crazy for the amount of people here. Sounds like there are ten times more people here then there actually is.
• We try to fit as many fights as we can in the time block. If (Velasquez vs. dos Santos) ends quick enough, and there’s time, we might put another fight on. We’re still working on it.
Cain Velasquez
• There is no added pressure, we always go out there and perform.
• No, I don’t consider myself special. I do what I am asked, which is train hard and leave it all out there when I train and fight.
• Right now I’m doing three a days (in training). I plan to do that until the fight and kind of make adjustments as we go on.
• He’s definitely one of the hardest hitters out there and we’re preparing so that (what happened in the fight with Cheick Kongo) won’t happen again.
• I expect to go everywhere in this fight. On the feet and on the ground. I don’t see this fight going one style. Wrestling has to be key, my boxing and BJJ have to be sharp, everything has to be sharp. I have to be well-rounded for this fight. That will help me get the victory.
Junior dos Santos
• I love to fight standing, but I will be prepared for sure to fight on the ground, or wherever the fight goes. I train everything now and I am learning wrestling really fast. I know Cain is a great wrestler and will probably take me down, but I will be ready for this and use my BJJ.
• I feel no pressure either. That’s what I love to do and I will be ready to make a good fight.
• I’m doing my camp in Brazil now, but I am getting prepared very well for this fight. The whole Team Nogueira is around me: Big Nog, Little Nog, Anderson Silva, etc. I feel great and everyday I feel like I am learning more skills to be a better fighter.
