Devil’s Cut by Jim Beam – 90 Proof Bourbon

As bourbon ages, a portion of the liquid is lost from the barrel due to evaporation—that’s the “Angel’s Share.” After aging, when the bourbon is dumped out of the barrel, a certain amount of whiskey is left trapped within the wood of every barrel. We call that the “devil’s cut.”

To create Jim Beam® Devil’s Cut™, an extraordinary new bourbon experience, we developed a proprietary process that actually pulls the rich whiskey trapped inside the barrels’ wood after they’re emptied. We hold this barrel-treated extract until it develops the proper balance of bourbon notes, then blend it with 6 year old bourbon and bottle at 90 proof. The result: a robust, premium bourbon with deep color, aroma and character.

We named our company TrauMMA but not for the reason you probably expect. The name evokes a reaction. It identifies us as a brand within mixed martial arts, a sport we dearly love. But the name has a meaning thatgoes beyond the fresh battle scars worn proudly by the athletes who compete.

For us, TrauMMA has a much deeper significance. The name denotes a shared experience. Every fan identifies with professional fighters in a unique way. And every fan has their own story, their own hardships, and their own obstacles to overcome. Our brand identifies with the fans who are inspired by the power and heart displayed by mixed martial artists every time they step into the cage. And our brand stands for the fans that channel that energy into their own lives to overcome adversity.

We produce and market the best apparel in the MMA space. But our dedication to the fans runs deeper than the work we put into every product in our catalog. TrauMMA supports the organizations that give back to the community. From The Wounded Warrior Project to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we make community a part of our message. When we sponsor a professional fighter we look for athletes that reflect our values. And we make sure they deliver. Every TrauMMA contract includes a clause requiring the sponsored fighter to perform community service.

We believe in the bonds formed between those who suffer through hard times. When you make it through to the other side, those are the moments that you do not forget.

TrauMMA. Undeniable. Indelible. Unforgettable.

This t-shirt is a replica of the one that Muhammad Ali, then Cassius Clay, wore in training for his 1964 upset of Sonny Liston in which he won the heavyweight title for the first time. It was a victory that, as Ali famously put it, “shook up the world,” and immediately launched him into that rare stratosphere of superstardom that he would occupy for the rest of his life. As an artifact, this shirt has heavy resonance in Ali’s development, for immediately after the first Liston fight he would make the announcement that as a member of the Nation of Islam and a devoted follower of Elijah Muhammad, he no longer would be known by his slave name, Cassius Clay. He initially took the name Cassius X in the manner of his mentor, Malcolm X, but soon afterward was given the name “Muhammad Ali” by
Elijah Muhammad himself
