With Mark Munoz being injured and Michael Bisping replacing him against Chael Sonnen, Demian Maia was without an opponent. Well it didn’t take Dana White and Joe Silva long to find him a replacement. Maia will now take on undefeated middleweight Chris Weidman.
Weidman made his UFC debut at UFC Live against Alessio Sakara and has since gone on to beat Jesse Bongfeldt and Tom Lawler in 2011. A win over Maia will boost Weidman up the rankings and make a great start to his 2012 year.
Maia is coming off of a Unanimous Decision victory over Jorge Santiago at UFC 136. Since losing to Anderson Silva in 2010 he has gone 3-1 with his only loss to Mark Munoz.
