With UFC welterweight kingpin George St-Pierre on a sabbatical due to injuries it’s given the 170-pound ranks a second wind but also caused a logjam at the top with everyone and their mother having a rightful claim to challenge for the title.
UFC President Dana White took another step in clearing up the mess announcing on his twitter that Johny Hendricks will face former title-challenger Josh Koscheck at UFC on FOX 3.
Hendricks has only tasted defeat once in his career against fellow prospect Rick Story and recently obliterated the former number-two ranked welterweight Jon Fitch in a matter of seconds.
Koscheck on the other hand has won two-straight victories since losing to St-Pierre, most recently edging Mike Pierce on points.
This bout will round out the main card of the FOX event with a lightweight title-eliminator between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller as well as a heavyweight tilt between Pat Barry and Lavar Johnson already been announced for the main card.
