John Alessio gets wish, returns to UFC against Mark Bocek

|

John Alessio has been hunting for a return to the UFC and finally that wish has come true. Alessio will step in for the injured Matt Wiman to face fellow Canadian Mark Bocek at UFC 145 in Atlanta.

Bocek reported the bout via his twitter accounted earlier today…

Hey guys, my new opponent @ #ufc145 is John Allesio, Wiman is out with a knee injury. #mma

Alessio has fought for the UFC before, but this will be his first contest in the lightweight division. He has gone 10-1 in his last 11 fights, which makes the return no surprise.

Last month Alessio told MMASucka Radio that he was gunning for Bocek.

The guy I’m gunning for is Mark Bocek, that’s who I want. He’s the one who’s the number one lightweight in Canada. I believe that’s my spot. I believe I’m the best lightweight in Canada, so I want Bocek.  Of course that requires me being in the UFC (laughs). Once I beat up Ryan Healy, I’ll take on another ginger and that will be Mark Bocek.

We will see who is the true number one lightweight in Canada at UFC 145.
