Former Division 1 wrestler, Phil Davis will step back into the octagon at UFC on FOX 4 this August against former Strikeforce fighter Chad Griggs.
UFC officials announced the fight earlier today.
After losing to Travis Browne at UFC 145, heavyweight Strikeforce veteran Chad “Grave Digger” Griggs has verbally agreed to drop to the light heavyweight division. Welcoming him at 205 pounds will be Browne’s teammate, pedigreed wrestler Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis. The two have verbally agreed to meet at the UFC on FOX event in August.
Davis (9-1) will look to get back to his winning ways after losing for the first time to Rashad Evans at UFC on FOX 2.
Griggs (11-2) will make his debut in the light heavyweight division after being defeated in his UFC debut against Travis Browne at UFC 145 last month. The loss was the first for Griggs in over 5 years.
Look for the undersized heavyweight to look like an oversized light heavyweight as he makes his debut at the weight class on FOX.
UFC on FOX 4 is scheduled to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Aug. 4, 2012. It will be headlined by former Bellator champ Hector Lombard against Brian Stann.
