K-1 to bring fighting superstars Tyrone Spong, Mighty Mo, Rick Roufus and Dewey Cooper to the K-1 open tryouts

Los Angeles, CA – K-1 today announced that fighting superstars Tyrone Spong, Mighty Mo, Rick Roufus and Dewey Cooper will head to Los Angeles’ famed Muscle Beach for the K-1 Open Tryouts Thursday, July 19.
This group of legendary kickboxers will be on hand to welcome the K-1 hopefuls, help evaluate talent and also sign autographs or pose for photos with the athletes and fans in attendance. The K-1 Open Tryouts are FREE and OPEN to the public.
Doug Kaplan, Chief Executive Officer, K-1 said, “We want to be sure this is an incredible day for the K-1 hopefuls, as well as the fans so we are bringing Tyrone Spong, Mighty Mo, Rick Roufus and Dewey Cooper to our tryouts on July 19.”
Kaplan also confirmed that hundreds of hopefuls have pre-registered for the tryouts, and the number increases on a daily basis.
“Already over 150 men from places as far as Scotland, Russia, and Japan have signed up for our K-1 Open Tryouts,” said Kaplan. “We are looking forward to seeing everyone. Now we have Tyrone, Mighty Mo, Rick and Dewey to help us consider each and every person trying out. We are excited by this incredible response – kickboxing is a spectacular sport and the world is talking about it.”
Kaplan elaborated on K-1’s Rising’s events this year, as well as the historic significance of the K-1 brand.
“Right now, we are finalizing our Los Angeles event in September and two more fights this year including the 2012 World Grand Prix which offers more than $2 million in purse prizes for heavyweight and K-1 Max athletes,” said Kaplan.
“We have signed a deep roster of K-1 icons and rising stars and have opened our doors to the biggest and the best stand-up fighters everywhere, starting with our open tryouts.
“K-1 is back. Ultimately, K-1 belongs to the fans and we are giving them back the premier fighting experience that only K-1 can deliver.”
