Utah’s best kept secret scheduled for XFC Debut in Charlotte

XFCinsider: Utah’s best kept secret scheduled for XFC Debut in Charlotte

Jason “The Mover” South signed a long term multi-fight contract with XFC in early 2012 and will make his debut with the organization on August 3, when he takes on Corey Hill at XFC 19: Music City Mayhem. The result of the Welterweight bout will likely determine the #1 contender for rumored upcoming title fights.

South hails from West Jordan, Utah. He’s a full-time fighter, training in different gyms to work on important parts of his game. He trains two to three times a day, and his coaches claim “he’s always the first to show up and the last to leave.” South is the definition of hard work and hard work has certainly helped to earn him his perfect 8-0 record. It is hard to find a hole in South’s game; he picked up Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu about 6 years ago and has already starting winning Pan-Am tournaments. He also trains in Muay Thai, which helps him to get knock downs and then work for submissions. Most importantly he has a strong wrestling background that allows him to take the fight where he wants. On top of all this, he also spent years of his life moving furniture, a job that helped South develop tremendous strength and earned him his nickname “The Mover”. Jason South is a man with many weapons, and people who know him are saying “he’s the best kept secret in Utah.”

South tore through Utah’s 185 fighters, going 8-0 over 4 years, finishing all 8 wins and never letting the judges have a say in his fate. After South was brought to XFC President John Prisco’s attention in early 2012, it was immediately determined that South needed to get in the XFC cage. “South is an animal,” said Prisco, “He may be one of the strongest, toughest guys we’ve ever had. I’m excited to see him in action, he and Corey Hill are going to put on some fireworks for the Charlotte crowd. The two Welterweights match up very well. Both carry a strong wrestling background to the fight, which makes it a toss-up as to where the action will takes place. South has a strong stand up game as well and will be challenged by Hill’s length. The skillfully matched fight is destined to be another gem in the XFC library following the August 3 event.”

As the XFC journeys to Charlotte for the first time, they bring with them a loaded line-up. Nick Newell in the feature bout and Felice Herrig in co-main will lead into the final fight of the evening, where Jason South finally gets a chance to show the world why people have coined him “Utah’s Best Kept Secret”. XFC 19: Charlotte Showdown is presented by ICRealTime Security Solutions and will take place at Charlotte’s Grady Cole Center. The event will air live on AXS TV beginning at 9PM ET.
