Donald Cerrone proved he’s a contender at the 155lbs division tonight at UFC 150. He was rocked early in the first round by Melvin Guillard, however just seconds later he landed a beautiful high kick and followed it up with a heavy right hand to end the fight.
Earlier this week during an interview with “Inside MMA” Cerrone made it crystal clear that he wants a fight with Anthony Pettis.
“I definitely wanna go after that title, and getting a rematch with Henderson would be an honor. That’d be sweet, for the belt. But, I really wanna fight Anthony Pettis. I want him to quit crying about his hurt shoulder and step up and fight me. I don’t know what I gotta do. Just grab your purse and let’s dance, brother.”
Again, during his post-fight speech with Joe Rogan he made mention of Pettis.
“Just sign on the dotted line and train for a few weeks and let’s go!”
That wasn’t the last time “Showtime’s” name came up though. At the post-fight press conference, one member of the media asked “Cowboy” and UFC President Dana White if this was a fight that would make sense. Both had the same answer, and that was yes.
Whether or not this is the case is yet to be seen, but Cerrone has his sight set on Pettis. Pettis is currently rehabbing from shoulder surgery, but could be ready to go come October/November.
