Press Release – 20th August 2012
In his Legend debut, Shooto Rookie Champion Yusuke Kasuya dominated Australia’s Rob Hill before a small error gave Hill the opening he needed to pull off a dramatic come-from-behind victory. Kasuya took away several lessons from his first loss, used them as motivation to train harder and smarter in the months since then, and will be looking to showcase his improved skills in his fight against Jacques Marsters. Although he is a natural lightweight, Marsters has spent most of his career fighting above his weight class, knocking out most of his opponents in spite of the size disadvantage. In his natural weight class, expect to see Marsters’ heavy hands have an even greater impact. And in this classic battle of striker vs. grappler, fight fans should expect to see a dramatic finish.
Legend FC 10 Preview: Yusuke Kawanogo vs. Rob Lisita, Jacques Marsters vs. Yusuke Kasuya
Reigning Legend Featherweight Champion Yusuke Kawanago faces his toughest challenge to date in the form of Australia’s number-one ranked featherweight Rob Lisita. Known as a knockout artist who looks to finish every fight, Kawanago faces some interesting challenges against Lisita, who is a submission specialist known for his power and relentless pace.
Commenting on his upcoming title defense, Kawanago said, “The most important thing about this fight is to maintain my own style. I will fight the same aggressive way against anybody. When it comes to Friday’s fight, you will see me dominating him standing and on the ground.”
Kawanago is confident and looks forward to the challenge of going up against the best featherweight in Australia. “I hate to fight against average fighters. The fact that Lisita is the best fighter in his weight class in Australia excites me, and I can’t wait for this fight to start. I have been training harder than ever before for this fight, and this will be a perfect opportunity for me to continue my winning streak.”
Fans can see Kawanago vs. Lisita live at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong on Friday, August 24. Tickets are still available at www.hkticketing.com.
