Heavyweights Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin settle their beef & squash the juice on Dec.15

|

A heated rivalry between two of the sports hardest-hitting heavyweights will be
settled on Saturday, Dec. 15. Dr. Margaret Goodman and the Voluntary Anti Doping Association ‐ (VADA) is offering their service to Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin to clean up the black eye in combat sports with it’s testing for performance enhancing drugs. Roy Nelson has already signed on with VADA ‐
and now awaiting Shane Carwin’s commitment. Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its long awaited return to The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Former UFC Champion Shane Carwin will meet The Ultimate Fighter season 10 winner and IFL’s only Hwy Champion Roy “Big Country” Nelson in the night’s main event. The two serve as opposing coaches on this season’s edition of The
Ultimate Fighter (Fridays, FX, 10 p.m. ET/PT) and will finally have the chance to trade leather this December.

“Roy Nelson has gotten under Shane Carwin’s skin all season and Shane’s ready to try to knock him out,” UFC president Dana White said. “I don’t expect this one to go the distance. Roy and Shane were civil to each other on ‘TUF,’ but they can’t stand each other and after having to spend six weeks together, Shane said he can’t wait to knock Roy out. Roy Nelson loves the fight and stated “This fight is going to happen but it’s going to be fair. I know Shane has never failed a drug test in his professional fighting career. And that’s why as former champions we are leaders and it is essential that we make theses stands for young athletes in our sport. We will settle our beef and squash the juice on Dec 15.” This is related when Shane Carwin was named as a past customer of Applied Pharmacy Services (APS) after a federal judge handed one of its pharmacists, J. Michael Bennett, a four-year prison term for selling anabolic steroids produced in Mobile, AL. Dana White as the promoter stated, “These two are both known for having heavy hands. Chances are someone is getting knocked out. Best part is the coaches will fight on the TUF Finale Live on FX from Hard Rock Hotel here in Vegas.”
