Forrest Griffin glad he’s not fighting the “boring and tedious” Chael Sonnen

|

Forrest Griffin is without an opponent for his December 29 match-up at UFC 155 in Las Vegas, Nevada. His original opponent Chael Sonnen is now slated to coach opposite UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones on the 17th season of The Ultimate Fighter.

The two were supposed to do battle in the co-main event of the UFC’s year end card. Word on the street is that Griffin will still remain on the UFC 155 fight card.

The fact that Griffin will no longer face Sonnen didn’t upset the former TUF 1 champion all that much. On Tuesday’s episode of FUEL TV’s “UFC Tonight,” Ariel Helwani spoke about a conversation he had with Griffin about the cancelled match-up.

“Forrest doesn’t know. I actually just spoke to him, moments ago. He said he just found out about the news, as well. He doesn’t know if he’ll still fight on the UFC 155 card at the end of the year, but he did have a couple interesting things to say Chael. He said, ‘I don’t blame Chael for taking this fight. Why work your way to the top, if you can talk your way to the top?’ And he did say, somewhat jokingly, ‘I’m actually glad that I’m not fighting him now, because watching his fights was so boring and tedious.'” – transcribed by MMAmania.com

From a logistics stand-point, the UFC has made a fantastic decision putting Jones and Sonnen together as TUF coaches.
