Dustin Poirier and Jonathan Brookins are set to tangle at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale this December.
UFC officials announced the match-up this weekend.
Featherweight contender Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier returns to the Octagon for the first time since his May Fight of the Year candidate against Chan Sung Jung when he takes on The Ultimate Fighter 12 winner Jonathan Brookins at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on December 15.
Poirier (12-2) is coming off only his second loss of his career, back in May when Chan Sung Jung defeated him at UFC on FUEL TV 2. The former Gladiators Academy fighter, has recently joined American Top Team in Florida to up his training.
Brookins (13-5) is also coming off a loss, as Charles Oliveira beat him at The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale in June.
Both men will look to push themselves back into contender status in the featherweight division with a key victory.
The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale is set to go down on December 15 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. It will be headlined by a five-round main event bout between the season’s two coaches, Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson. As well as, the finals of the TUF 16.
