Korean debuts at UFC on Fuel 6

|

On November 10th, the UFC will make its way to Macau, China for the first time in company history. The event will be headlined by a middleweight tilt between former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin taking on former Strikeforce Champion Cung Le. Along with a stellar main event, UFC: Macao is set to showcase a wealth of Asian fighters, including China’s own Zhang Tie Quan.

Along with Japanese veterans  Riki Fukuda, Takanori Gomi,  and Takeya Mizugaki, the card will also feature talent from the ever emerging South Korean MMA scene. MMASucka has down-low on who’s fighting and what to expect from this exciting crop of Asian prospects. Read on.

Lim Hyun-Gyu

Gyu (10-3-1) jumped onto the MMA scene back in 2006 with the Spirit MC Fight promotion. He has fought all over the world, including United States, Russia, and many different corners of Asia. “The Ace” is currently riding a five fight winning streak, with all five wins coming via first round stoppage. The 27-year-old went 3-0 in his stint with the Guam-based Pacific-Xtreme Combat, en route to winning the promotion’s Welterweight belt at PXC 32 back in July. Despite having 3 losses on his record, Hyun Gyu Lim has never been finished by strikes.

At UFC on FUEL TV 6, Gyu will take on veteran, David Mitchell. Mitchell has lost his last two bouts, but stepped in on short notice to replace Marcelo Guimaraes.

Kang Kyung-Ho

Ho (11-6) has been a staple on the Korean MMA scene since 2007. Of his 11 wins, Ho has only gone to the judges scorecards three times. He is on a three fight winning streak and most recently defeated Andrew Leone to win the inaugural Road FC Bantamweight Championship. The South Korean has a resume that includes fights with the likes of Bae Young Kwon, Min-Jung Song and Shoko Sato. Fighting out of Busan’s Team M.A.D., the 25-year-old amassed a total of 5 victories under the ROAD FC banner, and suffered only two setbacks.

“Typhoon” will step in to the cage against former Ultimate Fighter veteran Alex Caceres at UFC on FUEL TV 6.
