The MMA community has been chomping at the bit for a super-fight between Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre. It sounds as if that fight could happen sooner rather than later.
It was announced earlier in the week that middleweight champ Anderson Silva would be attending UFC 154 in Montreal, QC on November 17.
Silva has already made mention that win or lose he would like to challenge St-Pierre in a super-fight.
On today’s UFC 154 media conference call the question was posed as to why Silva would be attending the event?
“There’s no doubt Anderson Silva (is) showing up to cheer Georges St-Pierre on, and he wants him to win this fight. He wants to fight him after. So I would say yes (he will challenge him in the cage).”
St-Pierre has been off since April 2011 after suffering two knee injuries last year. He must first face Carlos Condit in the main event at UFC 154 prior to even thinking about the Silva fight.
“I don’t care about Anderson Silva. He can do whatever he wants, I’m focusing on Carlos Condit. That’s all that matters to me.”
Even though he is focused on Condit, St-Pierre has some added pressure with “The Spider” sitting cage-side to watch his main-event performance.
