Shane Carwin injured, Roy Nelson awaiting new opponent for TUF Live Finale

|

Shane Carwin has injured his knee and will no longer be taking on Roy Nelson at the TUF Live Finale.

The news came Wednesday afternoon via UFC President Dana White’s Twitter Account.

“WOW!! It never ends Carwin blew his knee out. Looking for a new opponent for Roy on the TUF Finale on FX.”

MMASucka.com caught up with Carwin’s manager Jason Genet of Ingrained Media and he told us that he had re-injured his knee.

He called me this morning to let me know that he had re-injured his knee and that he was not going to be able to make the Dec. 15th fight.  I called Joe Silva and informed him pretty much immediately.

The injury bug has plagued the UFC this year and Silva has been forced to find late replacements on numerous occasions. Lucky enough, Genet informed him quickly after the injury happened.

The injury happened in training yesterday.  He feels that he pushed an already injured knee too far and it gave out.  He was cleared to train, but this injury is more complex than what he had a few weeks ago.

Carwin has been out of action since his fight against Junior dos Santos at UFC 131 back in June of 2011. Unfortunately he will most likely be out of action until early 2013.

He is going to try to rehab the knee and be octagon ready by Feb 2013.

The injury leaves Roy Nelson without an opponent for the TUF Live Finale on December 15. Keep it locked to MMASucka.com to find out who will replace Carwin.
