Junior dos Santos thinks he will KO Cain Velasquez at UFC 155

|

On November 12, 2011 Junior dos Santos defeated Cain Velasquez in the main event at the first UFC on FOX show to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship. The fight lasted a measly 1:04, as dos Santos used his boxing skill and knocked out the former champ.

On today’s UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez media conference call, dos Santos gave Velasquez some compliments, but ultimately feels like he will knock him out again in their second go-round on December 29.

“Cain Velasquez is an excellent wrestler and he puts pressure on his opponents all the time. That’s what he’s gonna try to do to me. He’s gonna try to take me down, ground and pound and I have to be careful with that and use my takedown defense and my boxing skills. Everything I’m training now. I’m very confident I’m gonna win this. It doesn’t matter what happens, I think I’m gonna knock him out again.”

Of dos Santos’ 15 career wins, an astounding 11 of them have come by way of knockout. There will be no doubt that the champ will be looking to keep this fight on the feet. In fact, he also stated on the call today that he has the exact same game-plan as their first encounter. Whether that is a ploy to fool Velasquez is yet to be seen, however his knockout power is his bread and butter.

UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez takes place on December 29 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
