If you’re not an avid follower of Asian Mixed Martial Arts, you’d probably be wondering who Mark Striegl is. Well, not to worry. Once you’ve finished reading this article, you will be on the lookout for this rambunctious fighter. Trust me, you will.
Striegl is a perfect 12-0 in his professional MMA career and has competed in a myriad of promotions across the Asian region. He is, undoubtedly, one of the hottest prospects in the Asian MMA scene. With a background in Tae Kwon Do and Wrestling, the 24-year-old was first dragged into the limelight when he defeated top South Korean Featherweight prospect, Bae Young Kwon.
Asian Fighter Watch #2: Mark ‘Mugen’ Striegl
Following that impressive performance, Striegl was then tasked to fight at URCC Baguio 3 – Invasion. Striegl managed to carry on his momentum with a 1st round submission win over Crisanto Pitpitunge.
Following a submission victory Giovanni Sablan in his next outing, Striegl was then signed by the Hong Kong-based Legend Fighting Championship, one of Asia’s finest MMA promotions. In his promotional debut, the Filipino-American fighter faced Yusuke Kawanago and did just enough to get the judges’ nod with a split-decision victory. He returned to the LFC ring once again at Legend FC 7 and used his grappling prowess to submit Ev Ting in the 1st stanza.
Known for his speed and malignant style of fighting, Striegl has certainly caught the eye of many fight promoters around the globe. A finisher by nature, the 24-year-old has only gone the distance twice in his MMA career and has 10 submission wins to date.
He most recently competed against former Strikeforce veteran and reigning PXC Lightweight Champion Harris Sarmiento in a non-title bout at PXC 34. Striegl added more ebullience to the crowd when he submitted the champ impressively via Scarf Hold Armlock.
Having competed in promotions like DARE, URCC, PXC and Legend FC, the bright lights of ONE Fighting Championship could very well be in the next chapter of Mark Striegl’s fight career. At just 24-years-old, Mark Striegl could very well be the next ‘big thing’ in Mixed Martial Arts.
