Dana White: People offended by Cain Velasquez's ‘Brown Pride’ tattoo are "morons"

|

Cain Velasquez became the first UFC Heavyweight Champion to come out of the country of Mexico back at UFC 121 when he beat Brock Lesnar. The fighter is so patriotic that he even has “Brown Pride” tattooed across his upper chest. The former champ was actually born in Salinas, California, however the tattoo shows his Latin pride.

Many MMA fans have been very critical of the tattoo, however Velasquez defended it by saying that it had nothing to do with power and superiority, but instead it’s a tribute to his heritage and everything he’s had to overcome.

Once again at the UFC 155 pre-fight press conference, Velasquez was asked about his ink and he was quick to answer.

“That’s definitely a big question that everybody brings up. It’s just like any other question, you answer it a 100 times.”

UFC President Dana White, who often times is very outspoken, piped up on the ‘Brown Pride’ tattoo topic as well.

“People who have a problem with the ‘Brown Pride’ tattoo are morons. Come on. It says ‘Brown Pride.’ Big deal. The guy’s proud to be Mexican. I lived in Boston, every Italian was walking around with something Italian on their body. Every guy who was Irish had some Irish tattoo on him, and the list goes on and on. It’s ridiculous. This kind of stuff pisses me off. I hate it.”

Velasquez will square off against the man who took the belt from him, Junior dos Santos this Saturday night in the main event at UFC 155.
