A lightweight bout between John Makdessi and Daron Cruickshank has been booked for UFC 158 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
UFC Canada tweeted the announcement Friday evening.
Makdessi (10-2) broke his two fight losing streak in November when he picked up a unanimous decision victory over fellow Canadian Sam Stout at UFC 154. “The Bull” will look to continue his winning ways and increase his UFC record to 4-2 with a key win over Cruickshank.
Cruickshank (12-2) scored a highlight reel knockout at UFC on FOX 5 this past December against Henry Martinez. Cruickshank is on a six fight winning streak, with two of those under the UFC banner.
Both fighters are able to put on highlight reel performances, as mentioned above Cruickshank had a beautiful head kick knockout at UFC on FOX 5 and Makdessi TKO’d Kyle Watson with a spinning backfist at UFC 129.
No word as to where on the UFC 158 fight card this fight will take place.
UFC 158 goes down on March 16 from the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Headlining the event will be Georges St-Pierre putting his welterweight title on the line against Nick Diaz. A pair of welterweight battles will lead up to the main event, as Rory MacDonald looks to avenge his UFC 115 loss to Carlos Condit and Johny Hendricks will hope to keep his win streak alive against Jake Ellenberger.
