Andrei Arlovski takes on Anthony Johnson in a heavyweight showdown at WSOF 2

Earlier today the World Series of Fighting announced the date and venue of their second event. Along with that news they announced that they have partnered with NBC Sports for the next three years.

Along with the long anticipated bantamweight match-up between Tyson Nam and Marlon Moraes, WSOF President Ray Sefo announced to Stephie Daniels a heavyweight showdown for the main event.

“I have some surprises for you. As a matter of fact, we have a verbal agreement for our main event. It’s Andrei Arlovski vs. Anthony Johnson. It will be at heavyweight.”

Arlovski (19-9 1NC) has won his last five fights, with his last being a first round beatdown of Devin Cole in the main event of the first World Series of Fighting event.

Johnson (14-4) had constant weight issues under the UFC banner when he fought at welterweight. He then made the move to middleweight when he fought Vitor Belfort at UFC 142, however he missed weight for that and was ultimately released from the organization. He moved up to light heavyweight and has since racked up a nice three fight winning streak. Most recently he beat D.J. Linderman by first round KO at World Series of Fighting 1.

World Series of Fighting 2 will go down on Saturday, March 23 from the Revel Resorts & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
