It was announced over the weekend that a fighter had failed their post-fight drug test from UFC on FX 7 in Brazil. Immediately fingers began to point at main event fighter Vitor Belfort. However, UFC President Dana White made it clear to the media that it was not him.
“It (expletive) was not Vitor Belfort. Yet, right now I bet if you talked to 100 people, 100 people will tell you that Vitor Belfort failed his drug test in Brazil. That’s (expletive).”
Lightweight fighter Thiago Tavares was the fighter who failed his post-fight drug test.
UFC officials announced today that Tavares tested positive for the anabolic steroid drostanalone and has been suspended nine months.He will need to produce a clean sample before returning to competition.
Tavares lost to up and coming lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov in the first round of their lightweight tussle.
UFC on FX 7 went down from the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
