Amir Sadollah will square off against Stephen Thompson at UFC 160

|

The UFC 160 fight card which takes place on the Memorial Day long weekend just added a dynamic welterweight fight between Amir Sadollah and Stephen Thompson.

UFC officials announced the match-up on Wednesday and said verbal agreements are in place.

Sadollah (6-4) is coming off a loss to Dan Hardy this past September at the UFC on Fuel TV 5 event. The former TUF winner has lost two of his last three outings, so a win against Thompson is necessary.

Thompson (6-1) made his debut with the UFC back at UFC 143 where he knocked out Dan Stittgen with an impressive head kick to win knockout of the night honours. In his sophomore fight, “Wonderboy” fell short to Matt Brown at UFC 145 and saw his undefeated record fall down the drain. Thompson was expected Besam Yousef at this past November’s UFC 154 event, but a knee injury forced him to withdraw from the bout.

UFC 160 will take place on May 25 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and is expected to be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. Also announced for that card is a heavyweight bout between Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem.
