Leonard Garcia vs. Cody McKenzie booked for UFC 159

|

A featherweight bout between two of the divisions scrappiest fighters, Leonard Garcia and Cody McKenzie has been booked for UFC 159.

Although UFC officials have yet to announce the match-up, Garcia let the news slip via Twitter.

Garcia and McKenzie were supposed to square off at UFC 155 this past December, however McKenzie was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury.

Garcia (15-10-1) is coming off of four straight losses, with his most recent being a controversial split decision to Max Holloway at UFC 155. Since returning to the UFC from his time with the WEC, Garcia has gone a horrendous 1-4.

McKenzie (13-3) is 1-3 in his last four fights. Most recently he lost his featherweight debut by a nasty body punch knockout at the hands of Chad Mendes. McKenzie came into the UFC undefeated and of his 13 victories, 12 of them have come by way of guillotine choke.

The Garcia vs. McKenzie match-up is expected to be on the preliminary portion of the UFC 159 fight card.

UFC 159 is set for April 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The main event is for the UFC light heavyweight championship, as TUF 17 coaches Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen go to war.
