Asia’s largest and most prestigious Mixed Martial Arts promotion, ONE Fighting Championship, has signed ‘The Prince of Persia’ Kamal Shalorus (7-3-2) to a deal, which will see the Iranian face promotional veteran Eduard Folayang (12-3) at ONE FC 9 on May 31st at the SM Mall of Asia Arena situated in Manilla, Philippines.
The match-up and signing was first reported by veteran journalist, James Goyder.
Shalorus is a former UFC & WEC veteran, and will be keen on snapping his current losing skid. With a resume that boasts bouts with the likes of Rafael Dos Anjos, Jim Miller and Khabib Nurmagomedov, Shalorus certainly brings a wealth of experience to the ONE FC Lightweight division. After going 3-0-1 in the WEC, the 40-year-old lost 3-straight bouts in the UFC which eventually led to his release.
Folayang, in the meantime, will be having the support of his countrymen once again as he looks to get back into title contention on May 31st in Manilla. The 28-year-old Team Lakay representative is 3-2 in his past 5 bouts, suffering defeats to Ole Laursen and Lowen Tynanes. The Filipino hotshot recently flew to the US to train with the likes of BJJ coach Robert Drysdale, and UFC fighters Mark Munoz & Dan Hardy.
Also confirmed for the May 31st event will be a Featherweight title tilt between Honorio Banario & Bae Young Kwon, and the return of former DREAM title holder, Bibiano Fernandes.
