Matt Mitrione holds on to job security, makes quick work of Phil De Fries

|

Prior to the UFC on FUEL TV 9 event, heavyweight Matt Mitrione was worried about his job security with the organization. The former professional football player was currently riding a two-fight losing streak and a third could result in a trip to the unemployment line.

Lucky for “Meathead” he made quick work of Phil De Fries in their main card bout. It took the former Ultimate Fighter only 19 seconds to knock out De Fries and keep his job in place.

Following the fight, Mitrione said, “I’m a developing talent and I appreciate the UFC giving me this fight.” He toyed with UFC commentator Kenny Florian when he brought in his mentor Chris Lytle to translate his fast English. He then offered a free beer for any one who slapped his other friend in the mouth.
