Matt Mitrione vs. Brendan Schaub announced for UFC on FOX 8

A heavyweight tilt between Matt Mitrione and Brendan Schaub is set to go down at UFC on FOX 8 in Seattle, Washington.

Foxsports.com‘s A.J. Perez was first to bring word of the fight and UFC officials later announced the match-up late Wednesday.

Mitrione (6-2) is coming off a very decisive 19-second knockout over Phil De Fries at UFC on FUEL TV 9. Following that bout he was suspended by the UFC for comments made on The MMA Hour regarding Fallon Fox.

“Meathead” has fought all of his professional fights inside the UFC’s octagon and started off his career on a 5-0 run.

Schaub (9-3) will look to continue in the win column at UFC on FOX 8. He is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Lavar Johnson at UFC 157 in February. “Hybrid” looked to be on a fast-track to the top of the heavyweight division picking up four straight wins, however he then hit a road block and lost two in a row.

UFC on FOX 8 will take place at Seattle’s KeyArena on July 27 and will be headlined by Demetrious Johnson putting his flyweight title on the line against John Moraga. Another big name fight announced for the card is Jake Ellenberger taking on Rory MacDonald.
