At UFC 159 Roy Nelson took it to Cheick Kongo in their main card battle.
It took “Big Country” only two-minutes and three seconds to drop Kongo. Right when the opening bell rang, Nelson pushed Kongo up against the cage. The referee pulled them apart and it took only a couple of seconds for the big man to land a looping overhand right that put Kongo on his butt. A bit of ground and pound forced the referee to pull Nelson away from Kongo.
At the UFC 159 post-fight press conference a question was asked about who would be next for Nelson. UFC President Dana White was quick to answer.
“Me and Joe never talk about fights the night of the fight but we talked tonight and we like Roy Nelson vs. Cormier or Roy Nelson, if Mark Hunt wins, Roy and Mark.”
The Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion Daniel Cormier was paying attention during the press conference and took to Twitter to let White know.
Hey @danawhite ur right I think Roy nelson and I would be a damn good fight. How about it @roynelsonmma

Cormier is coming off his first UFC win, when he defeated Frank Mir at UFC on FOX 7 earlier this month. There was a possibility that “DC” would like to drop to light heavyweight and challenge for that title, but after this possible fight it seems like the heavyweight division will be his home for a little while longer.
