MFC 37: True Grit weigh-in results

|

The Maximum Fighting Championship’s first bantamweight takes center stage as both fighters cleared the scales with ease at the official weigh-in for MFC 37: True Grit taking place Friday night in Edmonton, Alberta.

Airing live on AXS TV Fights from the Shaw Conference Centre, MFC 37 will feature the organization’s debut encounter in the 135-pound division with the winner moving directly into a title shot later this year. Contenders Ryan “Baby Face” Benoit (6-1) and Anthony Birchak (9-1) were both perfect on the scale in preparation for their bout.

Benoit, who hails from Dallas, Texas, weighed at 135.2 pounds, while Tucson, Arizona’s Birchak stepped off at 135.8 pounds. The two then went nose-to-nose and traded barbs as their pre-fight bad blood raged on.

A featured middleweight bout also yielded good results from the scale. Jason Zentgraf (7-1), who fights out of Missoula, Montana, weighed in at 185.4 pounds, while hometown hero Luke “Hayabusa” Harris (9-2) tipped the scales at 185.6 pounds.
