Junior dos Santos KOs Mark Hunt in spectacular fashion

|

The co-main event is one for the ages as fan favorite Mark Hunt goes to battle against former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos in heavyweight action.

Both men went at it early in the first round, with dos Santos doing what few have done and managing to knock “the Super Samoan” down. However, Hunt showed that his chin is made of titanium, and managed to get back to his feet. Hunt was able to do some damage of his own, cutting “Cigano” under the eye, and even got a little creative near the end of the round with a spinning back fist. Still, the former champ appeared to have won the round.

The second round started with another bit of feeling out, with Hunt throwing more kicks than he did in the first round. Junior is showing himself to be the faster fighter, though, working his jab. “Cigano” hits a takedown to try and seal the round, to a chorus of boos from the crowd. Hunt makes it up at the end, but this round still has to go to the Brazilian.

The third and final round found Mark Hunt’s cardio starting to let him down, and continues to be unable to land consistently on dos Santos. The Samoan’s chin stands strong though, continuing to take the former champion’s best punches while hardly flinching. Junior though, gets the finish by debuting a new tool from his kit: A spinning back kick, and following it up with punches.
