After losing her original opponent for UFC on Fox 8, Miesha Tate, dropped out of the bout to replace Cat Zingano as an Ultimate Fighter coach, “Girl-rilla” has been given a new opponent in the Brazilian Andrade.
Both MMAFighting.com and Carmouche herself have confirmed this bout.
Liz Carmouche (8-3) enters the bout after a first round submission loss to UFC women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey. A former marine with strong ground and pound, “Girl-rilla” enters the bout with a slew of new fans expecting big things from her, as she is the fighter to have gone the longest with the Olympic arm-collector to date. Will she be able to live up to the expectations of all her “Lizbos” against the UFC debutant?
Jessica “Bate Estaca” Andrade (9-2) makes her UFC debut after spending her the majority of her career to date in Brazil. Andrade, whose nickname translates to “Pile Driver” in English, has taken all her victories by way of finish, earning 5 submissions and 4 (T)KOs, displaying a fondness for guillotine chokes. Will she overcome the fabled “Octagan Jitters” and be able to upset the UFC veteran?
UFC on Fox 8 is scheduled to take place on July 27 in Seattle, WA’s Key Arena. The bout is headlined by a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga. Other bouts of interest slated for this card include Rory Macdonald vs. Jake Ellenberger, Brendan Schaub vs. Matt Mitrione, and Julie Kedzie vs. Germaine de Randemie.
