The Super Fight League is set to take a short hiatus, and my oh my did the promotion showcase an awesome final fight card that featured five 1st round finishes.
SFL 19 was headlined by heavyweights Jaideep Singh and Alireza Tavakoli (0-2), in a tilt that may have excited MMA fans worldwide due to the former’s success in K-1. Singh, being a former K-1 World Grand Prix champion, showcased some good takedown defense in his MMA debut before forcing his Iranian counterpart to tap after some vicious elbows were thrown. Following a stellar kickboxing career, Singh’s professional MMA record now reads 1-0.
In the co-featured bout of the evening, the crowd-pleaser Irfan Khan (6-0) continued his unbeaten start to his professional MMA career by submitting Jagdish Kashyap (1-1) via Rear-Naked Choke. Khan did not offer his opponent any opportunity to mount an offense at all, as the Indian fighter took control of this bout with relative ease.
Other notable fights:
- Bhabajeet Choudhury (3-1), the fighter who sent raptures around the MMA scene following his incredible spinning-back kick KO of Charanjit Singh, executed another highlight-reel stoppage against Iqbal Bhat (1-1), knocking him out senseless in the 1st stanza. It was Choudhury who pushed the pace in the early stages and although Bhat managed a Guillotine choke attempt, he succumbed to one the most brutal high-kicks ever seen under the SFL banner.
- The bout between Jason Ramesh Solomon and Mayank Dogra (0-3) delivered some sparks as well as the former improved his professional MMA record to 3-0 impressively, after disposing Dogra via punches in just 120 seconds. Being the taller fighter, Soloman had a distinct reach advantage. A jumping knee and a short Rear-Naked choke submission attempt was all it took to change the course of the fight, as some heavy punches that followed soon after signaled good night irene for Dogra.
