Takeya Mizugaki vs. Erik Perez booked for UFC on FS1 II

|

A bantamweight between Japan’s Mizugaki and the Jackson’s MMA product “El Goyito” has been announced for the UFC’s second edition on Fox Sports 1.

The fight was confirmed on this evening’s edition of UFC tonight.

Takeya Mizugaki (17-7), a member of Shooting Gym Hakkei in Japan, is on his way back up the ranks of the UFC’s bantamweight division. With wins in his past two fights that include a decision victory over Bryan Caraway, Mizugaki is one good win away from earning another shot at a top 10 opponent. Known for his grinding tactics, the Japanese fighter has 11 decision wins under his belt, but has decent enough hands that have allowed him to notch an additional 5 victories by (T)KO. Will Mizugaki be able to earn himself a higher place on the card with a victory over “El Goyito?”

Erik Perez (13-4) has been quietly making a name for himself as one of the prospects to watch in the 135 lbs. division. Undefeated in his last 8 bouts, the transplanted Mexican has been able to acquire finishes in his 3 UFC bouts to date, including a technical submission victory over John Albert at the Ultimate Fighter 15 finale last year. Known for his lucha libre-inspired entrances as well as his exciting fights, will this be the win that boosts “El Goyito” up to the main card?

UFC on FS1 II is scheduled to take place on August 28th at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a rematch between welterweights Martin Kampmann and Carlos Condit. For more information on this and other upcoming UFC events, stay tuned to MMASucka.com!
