According to the UFC’s most decorative trash talker Chael Sonnen his UFC contract has expired and he is waiting to sign a new one.
He made this fairly clear at a Q&A session during this past week’s UFC Fan Expo. Not only is Sonnen looking to sign a new contract, but he also supposedly went to UFC President Dana White with a list of demands.
Chael Sonnen makes demands for new UFC contract
We have heard Sonnen talk about his contract before (or lack thereof one) prior to his 2012 bout with Anderson Silva. He stated that he never signed a bout agreement for that fight and that he wasn’t even signed to the organization.
His demands are downright outrageous, so take it as you will.
- Jello Biafra replaces Bruce Buffer as ring announcer.
- Every fight I’m in must be a No. 1 contender fight or a title match.
- If I lose, I gets an immediate rematch until I win.
- No media can look me in the eye, or they will be removed from the room.
- Headset legalized through the commission so I can call my own fights.
- No longer will I walk to the ring. I need to be carried.
- Keys to your (Dana White) least favorite Ferrari – I’m not asking too much.
- I can Skype or FaceTime my fights if I feel like flying.
- It’s non-negotiable: tell ‘GSP’ to stop being such a dick. I’ll return his truck when I’m done with it.’
Sonnen went on to say, “”See, I’m not all about money, people. There’s more to these contracts. They’re very sophisticated.”
The list instantly drew laughter from the crowd which seems to be what Sonnen thrives on.
We will see whether the ludicrous contract comes to fruition. Sonnen is set to square off against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua on August 17 at UFC on FOX Sports 1 from Boston’s TD Garden.
