Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov (20-0) is an undefeated Russian sambo machine, doling out scintillating suplexes along with the usual assortment of MMA elements. The Red Fury Fight Team member has gone 4-0 since joining the UFC, with two finishes and two decisions to his credit. Will “The Eagle” be able to make it 5 in a row against the durable “Bam Bam”?
Pat “Bam Bam” Healy (29-16, 1 N/C) was reintroduced to fans of the UFC at UFC 159, where he engaged in three rounds of war with Jim Miller, taking the Submission of the Night and Fight of the Night bonuses home with a tremendous rear naked choke victory. Unfortunately, all of that was taken away from him after “Bam Bam” tested positive for marijuana metabolites. Since then, the Oregon grinder has owned up to his mistakes, served his suspension, and is looking to get his money back. Will be able to achieve double bonuses again at the expense of “The Eagle”?
UFC 165 goes down on September 21st, 2013 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a lightheavyweight title bout pitting the champion, Jon “Bones” Jones, against Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafson, the first challenger of Jones’ own generation.
