UFC Fight Night 31 is planned for November 9 in Brazil and the UFC is looking to have countryman Vitor Belfort take on Dan Henderson.
The news was dropped on Tuesday night’s episode of “UFC Tonight”, as UFC President Dana White confirmed that the organization was targeting a rematch between Belfort and Henderson.
Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson planned for UFC Fight Night 31 in Brazil
Belfort (23-10) has been keeping active via social media and text messages to White, attempting to get his shot at “The Bad Guy” Chael Sonnen. The last time the “Phenom” stepped inside the cage, he knocked out former Strikeforce champ with an impressive spinning heal kick. This will be Belfort’s first time in the cage since May of this year.
Henderson (29-10) is currently riding a two-fight losing skid, with losses to two former champs. At UFC 157 back in February he lost to Lyoto Machida and in June at UFC 161 he lost to Rashad Evans. Both match-ups were very close split decisions.
This will be a rematch between Belfort and Henderson. The last time they squared off was at PRIDE 32 in 2006 and Henderson picked up a unanimous decision.
UFC officials have yet to announce the match-up or any other fight on the UFC Fight Night 31 card. Keep it locked to MMASucka.com for more on the Belfort vs. Henderson fight and the UFC Fight Night 31 event as it arises.
