UFC 164 took over the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this past Saturday night. In the main event, hometown hero Anthony Pettis defeated Benson Henderson by first round arm bar submission to become the new UFC lightweight champion. Pettis stopped two take down attempts before connecting with several hard body shots on Henderson. The fight was brought to the ground when Pettis attempted a flashy capoeira kick which was caught by Henderson. Pettis secured a deep arm bar from his guard causing Henderson to verbally tap.
Also on the card, former UFC heavyweight champion, Josh Barnett returned to the UFC with a controversial first round TKO stoppage over former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir. Barnett controlled the whole fight with heavy strikes. Against the cage, Barnett landed a knee to Mir’s face which dropped Mir to the ground, at which point the referee stopped the fight. Mir stood up immediately in protest to the stoppage as he felt he was still able to continue.
