Glover Teixeira beats Ryan Bader in the UFC Fight Night 28 main event
Bader looked for a takedown immediately, but Teixeira was able to sprawl out of it. Bader looking extremely aggressive early in the first – he looked for a guillotine, but didn’t lock it in. Both Bader and Teixeira threw head kicks that missed, but Bader definitely seemed to be more active with just over two-minutes left. Bader connected with a big punch that stunned Teixeira, but when he came back to life he landed a beautiful combination which dropped Bader and forced referee Herb Dean to call a stoppage.
This was Teixeira’s 20th straight victory.
In his post-fight speech Teixeira gave his opinion on whether he earned a crack at the light heavyweight champion even though he was unhappy with his performance.
“I’m telling you this belt is going to be mine. It doesn’t matter if it’s Jon Jones or Gustafsson, it’s mine.”
