Alexander Gustafsson denied rematch, Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixiera announced

In another parallel to the the movie Rocky, Alexander Gustafsson, the man who unexpectedly rose to the occasion and nearly defeated UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones in a bloody battle, has been told, “There will be no rematch.” Instead, the UFC will be putting together Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixiera for a card on February 1st.

UFC President Dana White revealed this in an interview with ESPN.com yesterday, saying,

“That’s what the champ wants. We’ll probably have that fight on the Super Bowl card in New Jersey.”

White also mentioned that “The Mauler” will fight around the same time, at against a to-be-determined opponent in an as-yet-unannounced card that will likely take place in Sweden. Additionally, while it has not officially been announced, it appears that the Jones-Teixiera fight will take place around Super Bowl weekend.
