Two of the UFC’s Asian stars will square off when Nam Phan collides with Takeya Mizugaki at UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane, Australia.
UFC officials announced the bout earlier today.
Nam Phan vs Takeya Mizugaki announced for UFC Fight Night 33
Nam Phan (18-11) came to the UFC from Strikeforce, but not in the way many fighters normally have. After competing for the California-based promotion, Phan competed as part of The Ultimate Fighter’s 12th season. Since then, he hasn’t had the best record in the UFC, going 2-4 in 6 fights. Most recently seen in a losing effort to Dennis Siver at Featherweight, Phan could very well be fighting to retain his job against the dangerous Mizugaki. Will he be able to do so against the former WEC title contender?
Takeya Mizugaki (18-7-2) also made his way to the UFC from another promotion, joining the big show when it absorbed the WEC. Since then, Mizugaki has gone 5-2, and is currently on a 3 fight winning streak with victories over Jeff Houghland, Bryan Caraway, and Erik Perez. With another win, he’ll be looking for another step up in competition. Will the Japanese fighter be able to get that with a win over Phan?
UFC Fight Night goes down December 7th in Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, but will air in North America on December 6th because of the time difference. The main event is a thunderous heavyweight match-up, pitting Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva against “The Super Samoan” Mark Hunt. Stay tuned to MMASucka.com for more on this and other upcoming events.
