A middleweight tilt between former two-division contender Chael Sonnen and former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans is set to go down in the co-main event at UFC 167 this November.
Early Sportsbook Odds are in and Evans has opened as a -165 favorite, which puts Sonnen at a +125 underdog. As the fight card comes closer more than likely the odds will move a lot closer, so to make the most out of your dollar you should place your bets now.
Rashad Evans opens as -165 favorite against Chael Sonnen at UFC 167
Evans (18-3-1) was riding his first two-fight losing streak of his career until he got back on track with a split decision victory over Dan Henderson at UFC 161 in June. Prior to that he lost to Jon Jones (UFC 145) and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (UFC 156). A victory over the always dangerous Sonnen will put Evans name right back in the mix.
Sonnen (29-13-1) was also riding a two-fight losing streak before snapping it with a big submission victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC Fight Night 26. His back-to-back losses however were in title fights to light heavyweight champ Jon Jones (UFC 159) and Anderson Silva (UFC 148).
Evans and Sonnen work together as analysts on the FOX Sports 1 network, but don’t expect that to make the two friendly inside the Octagon. We can expect some serious trash-talking leading up to this contest, as Sonnen is known as one of the most outspoken fighters in the sport of mixed martial arts and Evans won’t back down from some camera time himself.
UFC 167 is set to go down on November 16 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The UFC welterweight championship is on the line in the main event as Georges St-Pierre looks to defend his belt against number one contender Johny Hendricks. Also on the main card is a welterweight showdown between slugger Robbie Lawler and Canadian standout Rory MacDonald, as well as wrestlers Josh Koscheck and Tyron Woodley.
