In about a week, ONE Fighting Championship returns to Singapore for its 11th event. While the spotlight is set to shimmer on the preliminary portion of the card which features three debuting native Mixed Martial Artists, a Lightweight bout with title ramifications is set go down on the main card.
ONE FC 11 Preview: Ng, Davis collide in an intriguing 155-lbs encounter
Evolve MMA’s Eddie Ng (6-1) is set to fight in Singapore for the fourth time, as he collides with Muayfit’s Peter Davis (6-2).
With similar records, both fighters have amassed illustrious victories under the ONE FC banner thus far. Eddie Ng is on a four-fight win streak, and has established himself as a firm crowd favorite with the Singaporean audience. A former Total Combat FC champ, Ng’s early childhood days and rise to MMA stardom has been well documented over the years. Now, as one of Asia’s rising MMA prospects, the 27-year-old has another sturdy task set ahead of him, as he looks to continue his quest for ONE FC gold in the promotion’s Lightweight division.
Standing in his way though, is a man on a mission; a fighter hell-bent on seeking revenge for his two colleagues who have been victims of Ng’s in past ONE FC appearances. Jian Kai Chee and Arnaud Lepont fell short against Ng at ONE FC 3 and ONE FC 8 respectively, and the Malaysian feels that now is the perfect time to get retribution for his team mates:
“This is another Evolve vs. Muayfit fight. Muayfit’s been unlucky a couple of times, and it’s time to show a bit of revenge, ” Davis said. “I’m not going to be letting off. I’m going to be relentless, and I’m going to go for it.”
Peter Davis has build a reputation for being one of Malaysian’s finest MMA fighters to date. As an actor and model away from the gym, Davis is a well-known personality in the country.
He will be fighting for the first time since his lost against former “TUF” tryout Ariel Sexton at the MIMMA finals in June. Prior to that setback, the 32-year-old picked up first-round stoppage victories against Ngabdi Mulyadi, Quek Kim Hock and Leo Krishna in his ONE FC outings.
“Peter is very well-rounded. On top of that, he’s got a very big heart and he’ll never give up, “Ng articulated. “When I look at his previous fights, it makes it difficult for me to put together a strategy for him. I just have to be prepared in all the different areas.”
As aforementioned, Davis-Ng will be a part of the main card which will be headlined by a Bantamweight title unification bout between reigning champ Soo Chul Kim and interim champ, Bibiano Fernandes.
ONE FC 11: Total Domination goes down October 18 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The event will air LIVE in Asia on the Star Sports network. Global fans can catch the main card action for a price of $9.99 at the following link, following free prelims on YouTube.
