Post-Fight reactions from ONE FC 11: Total Domination’s Ann Osman

Facing the media following her split decision setback against Sherilyn Lim (1-0) at ONE FC 11: Total Domination, Borneo Tribal Squad’s Ann Osman (0-1) was unquestionably disappointed with the judges’ decision.

It was a close call, that could have perhaps, on another day, went in favor of Osman.

Post-Fight reactions from ONE FC 11: Total Domination’s Ann Osman

The Malaysian made a comeback in the second and third stanzas after a taxing first frame, where she ate lots of knees and had to withstand the constant pressure of her Singaporean opponent. Osman, who was expected to simply stand and trade for fifteen minutes, showcased the other side of her MMA game, ensuring that her opponent succumbed to her grappling prowess and takedown attempts.

“The judges made their decision and there’s nothing I can do to change that. All I know is that I gave everything I got, I stuck to the game plan and I really did my best, ” she said, in her post-fight interview with the media.  “That was initially the plan (to take her down). I’ve always been strong, so taking her down was part of the plan.”

Osman also made history on the night as Malaysia’s first female pro MMA fighter. And despite having to swallow the tough pill of defeat in her first outing, she hopes that her fight with Lim would encourage more female athletes to step up and challenge themselves.

“Like I said in my previous interviews, I hope that with me fighting in ONE FC: Total Domination, that would break barriers and open more doors and opportunities for female MMA fighters to rise up and compete.”
